About Michele
I was born in July of
1962 and grew up in Blaine Minnesota. I
spent every weekend during the summer outdoors fishing, swimming, water skiing
and boating at grandma cabin with the whole family including Grandma Greeta,
Aunt and Uncle, 3 cousins, my brother and parents. All 10 of us in a 2 bedroom cabin was a
little cramped, but made for some pretty amazing summers. My parents knew the importance of family and
made sure we would have fond childhood memories to look back on. I also enjoyed going to church, singing hymns
and attending pioneer girls where I
learned more about camping, cooking, sewing and God. My very first job was working in the kitchen
at a nursing home when I was 16. At 17 I
had my first child. The most memorable
moments of my life were the days my 3 children and now 9 grandchildren were
born. At 26 I started working for Cub
grocery store in the Deli and was there on and off for 20 years. Throughout my career there, I was part of
many new Deli openings which allowed me to see the projects start from nothing
and finish with a brand new successful Deli.
In the middle of all this, at 35, my first marriage ended and thrust me
into a very difficult time emotionally and mentally, unable to care for my children
or myself without the help of family and friends. But through my Faith in God along with the
support of family and friends I was able to make it back on track again with
much delight and joy. For the last 13 years, I have been blessed to care for
the elderly in their home. I have heart
for those in need and a passion for showing God’s love and grace with
excellence. It is so much more important
for people to see God, than to see me, so I pour out His love on them whenever
I get the chance. It has been my own ups
and downs in life and these two jobs that were training for my true purpose in
life. I had learned all the skills I
needed for working with employees, doing the paperwork, helping others and
caring for people so at the age of 40 I finally realized that I was meant to
start the Brown Barn Beacon.

About my Life with the Brown Barn Beacon
Everybody has a purpose in life, this is mine.
God has placed it on my heart to create a safe haven for those who have gone through life's challenges, and who need a place to rest. The Brown Barn Beacon Provides this and much more. In August of 2003, God told me to pack up all of my belongings, sell my home in Minneapolis, and move to North Dakota. Through blind obedience I sold my house in Minneapolis, and moved into a small hobby farm to start the task the Lord had set before me. This whirlwind of events all took place within 30 days, and I was completely unaware of what the Lord's plans were for me next. 12 years later, the Brown Barn Beacon is registered with the state of North Dakota as a Not-for-Profit Organization, and I am one step closer to having this organization be in full time operation. I currently have a logo, website, blog, Instagram account and Facebook account for the Brown Barn Beacon, and am excited to see things moving forward! In the near future my goal is to rebuild the barn, hold fundraisers for the Brown Barn Beacon, accept donations, have individuals from the Anne Carlson Center and senior living homes come out for day-visits, and open up the Brown Barn Beacon to the public. |
